Truck Racing Championship splits Career mode up into two parts: the European mode and the World Series. These function the same way, with the only differences lying in the truck models and tracks. The European Career features exclusively European trucks from manufacturers like MAN and Iveco. The World Series, on the other hand, invites other truck makes into the mix. These trucks tend to be more nimble and can accelerate more quickly than their European counterparts. Track-wise, as the names suggest, the European Career has you racing on various real-world tracks around Europe. Meanwhile, the World Series includes tracks from a variety of countries like the USA, Australia, and Fiji.

Coming to that realization basically led me to conclude that TRC is more of a niche type of racer. Even if you enjoyed titles like Assetto Corsa, Project CARS 2, and Forza Motorsport 7, you may not necessarily jump for something like this due to its differences. In fact, Forza 7 does happen to include truck racing as one of its disciplines; actually, that game introduced me to the sport. Honestly, I prefer it there, as it served as a tiny portion of the experience rather than the whole product. Thus, for me, TRC proved more of a slog than a speedy celebration.
By far the most unique thing about truck racing, however, is the brakes. As any good racing driver will tell you, braking is where a lot of time can be made up or lost. Modulating the brakes and applying them at just the right time is what separates the champions from the backmarkers. As you can imagine, slowing down 5.3 tonnes of mass is no mean feat. Not only are braking distances in truck racing lengthy, preventing the brakes from overheating requires a managed cooling system.

The overall concept of the game is definitely different. It stepped outside of the normal racing game and that is where I will give them cool points. The game is tough at first maneuvering the different features of the truck, but add that I graduated with all Gold Stars so I definitely need to trade in my four doors for the 18-Wheeler!

The game holds you back from getting to the best stuff, though, by having you sign weekend contracts with teams for the first while. Once you finally get free of these you can sign up properly with a team, unlocking the ability to upgrade your truck. Profit becomes part of the mix, too, since damage must be repaired and your team will have certain demands when it comes to performance and cash. If you fail to meet expectations then you might even get kicked out of the team.

As a refreshing change from the usual car-based racing games, it seems like a promising proposition.
Racing games have been popular for a while now. Usually, there are cars, motorbikes, karts, and bicycle races but recently a new game was released that adds a different vehicle to the mix. Truck racing is an actual existing sport but now it is also available in the form of a racing game. FIA European Truck Racing Championship gives you the ability to race in big cool looking trucks on known circuits around the world. The Belgian Circuit Zolder is also included what we as a Belgian site, of course, like to see. The music in FIA European Truck Racing The Championship is very upbeat to get you pumped up for cool trucks. There is no music while racing which seems a bit odd. It might be so you hear the sounds of the trucks better, but it feels odd that there is no background music at all. There are mostly the few tracks of the menu. Accelerating with the truck does sound nice, as well as the breaking sound. Bumping or crashing into other drivers does not sound as satisfying as you would imagine two trucks colliding would sound.
FIA European Truck Racing Championship also offers multiplayer. There you can play split-screen with a friend locally, join or create a lobby, and use Quick Play to randomly join an already made lobby. If you do manage to make all the tests of the Career mode in single player. You can play championships, manage a team and have a calendar filled with events you can compete in. You will earn money to then repair your truck and pay your team while winning championships or seasons.
The only official simulation that features all the unique characteristics of the ETRC and offers all racing fans a completely new driving experience: race a giant 5-tonne, 1,000-horsepower truck against 12 competitors while respecting the race rules to avoid penalties.
Of course, this means that you are juggling somewhat keeping your racing truck on the grey stuff, avoiding smashing into other trucks while being competitive, spraying water on your brakes and doing your best to evade time penalties by avoiding several posts scattered around the track limits.
